Pheromones

Dr. Hiscox is an expert in high purity insect pheromone synthesis. Specific pheromones may be used for mass trapping of insects, for monitoring traps to detect infestations, or for mating disruption and push-pull strategies.
Pheromones can be synthesized for many specific insects, including the following:

  • Drugstore beetle
  • Cigarette beetle
  • Japanese beetle
  • Elm bark beetle
  • Furniture beetle
  • Western pine beetle
  • Cotton boll weevil
  • Housefly (Musca domestica)

From research amounts to bulk quantities, a large number of pheromones are available from IPS.  We can also package individual lures for inclusion in your insect control products.  Development of new pheromones, attractants and delivery systems is no problem.  Just ask!  IPS has full analytical capabilities for determining the purity of your pheromones, and conducts field testing of pheromone-based products.

Our synthetic chemistry capabilities are not limited to insect pheromones. Our methods are used in the synthesis of a variety of pharmaceutical, agrochemical and related specialty chemicals. Contact us for more information on pheromones and other chemicals available from IPS.
